Yes it has been a while, as they say, “life gets in the way” I moved to a rugged east coast beach settlement, in the North Island of New Zealand. Population 49, there are of course more people in the summer. The nearest shops, doctors, etc are about an hour away.
Its great, I love it.
Below are a few photos of this beautiful place that I now I get to see, all year round.
Herbertville is a special place, there is always something new to see, with its stunning scenery, dunes, hills and long sandy beach. It is a little bit of paradise, tucked away in the Tararua District. The high tide and river, created this amazing scene.
Tucked away at the far end of the Tararua District lies Herbertville with its long sandy beach, dunes and hills. It is as stunning in the winter, as it is in the summer. The landscape along the beach and hills is always changing, bad weather and rough seas, have a hand in that. You can walk for miles and not see another soul, except for the seals and the birds.
Fur Seals and Sea Lions are different from other seals because they have external ear flaps and hind flippers which rotate forward, which in turn, allows them to move very quickly on land and yes, they will give you a run for your money, so it pays to be situationally aware.
